Diagnose and Treatment of Hip Pain
Your hip joint is designed to withstand repeated motion and wear and tear. Overuse, aging, sports injuries, falls, and infection can result in pain and lack of mobility. It is important to realize when hip pain begins to prevent chronic pain or further damage from occurring.
As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bill Hefley has years of experience treating both degenerative conditions and sports-related hip injuries.
Unique Minimally Invasive Approach to Total Hip Replacement
In particular, Dr. Hefley is renowned for his minimally invasive total hip replacement technique. Using an anterolateral approach, he makes a small incision on the side of the hip. To reach the arthritic joint, he simply pulls the tendons and muscles to the side; he does not cut them. Watch the video below to learn more.
Dr. Hefley also preserves the hip capsule instead of removing it, as happens in a traditional total hip approach. Preserving these structures not only shortens the recovery time but also drastically decreases the amount of pain following hip replacement.
In addition, Dr. Hefley uses implants that are customized to the patient’s anatomy, which makes the artificial hip joint feel and move like a natural joint. The whole procedure takes less than an hour. After surgery, patients are walking the same day and go home the next.
Dr. Hefley performs all hip surgery exclusively at Arkansas Surgical Hospital, which has won numerous awards for joint replacement surgery over the years. Through word of mouth from his many satisfied patients, people come from near and far to have Dr. Hefley perform their hip replacement surgery. He has even operated on patients from as far away as Colorado, Virginia, and Alaska!

"I used a walker for three days and a cane for one week. No rehabilitation was necessary. I am 72 years of age and now have the stamina and ability that I had when I was much younger."
